- 1 pound beef (sirloin or flank steak)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small piece ginger, grated
- 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
- 1 cup julienned vegetables (carrot, bell pepper, cucumber)
- Rice paper wrappers
Instructions
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain.
- Combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, vegetable oil, garlic, and ginger in a bowl.
- Marinate the sliced beef in the mixture for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare your workspace with a shallow dish of warm water.
- Dip a rice paper wrapper into the warm water, soaking until softened, about 10-15 seconds.
- Lay the softened wrapper on a flat surface.
- Place a few basil leaves in the center of the wrapper.
- Add a portion of marinated beef strips and a small handful of julienned vegetables on top.
- Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling.
- Roll away from you, tucking it tightly, to create a neat roll.
- Repeat the process for the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add a drizzle of vegetable oil to the skillet.
- Cook the rolls for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
