Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheese (like Gruyere or Parmesan)
  • 1 cup crushed buttery crackers
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Boil the cubed butternut squash in salted water until tender, then drain.
