Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the toasted pecans gently.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- Once cooled, drizzle with caramel sauce and garnish with additional pecans if desired.
Notes
