Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup frozen peas (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat; drain excess fat.
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain.
- Combine the cooked macaroni, beef mixture, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and peas (if using) in a large bowl.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and add breadcrumbs if desired.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese is melted.
Notes
For a crispy topping, broil the casserole for the last few minutes of baking.
