Description

Savory slow-cooked beef chuck roast served on crusty hoagie rolls with melted cheese and a rich au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 to 2 pounds of beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Hoagie rolls or French bread
  • Sliced provolone or Swiss cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the crockpot.
  2. Add sliced onion and minced garlic on top of the roast.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the roast.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes or until the beef is tender.
  5. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks and return to the pot.
  6. Serve the shredded beef on hoagie rolls or French bread, topped with cheese if desired, and offer the au jus from the crockpot as a dip.

Notes

Sear the beef for richer flavor and use quality broth for better taste. Don’t skip the au jus!
