Description

Savory meatballs infused with the rich flavors of caramelized onions and melted cheese, inspired by classic French onion soup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add sliced onions. Cook until caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).
  2. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake meatballs at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.
  5. Add beef broth to the same skillet used for onions and bring it to a simmer.
  6. Add cooked meatballs to the broth and simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Top with mozzarella cheese and cover until melted.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

For a lighter alternative, use ground turkey instead of beef. Be sure to caramelize the onions slowly to enhance their sweetness.
