- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add sliced onions. Cook until caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).
- Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Form the mixture into meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake meatballs at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.
- Add beef broth to the same skillet used for onions and bring it to a simmer.
- Add cooked meatballs to the broth and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Top with mozzarella cheese and cover until melted.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
For a lighter alternative, use ground turkey instead of beef. Be sure to caramelize the onions slowly to enhance their sweetness.
