Description
Quick and easy fried sweet plantains that transform ripe plantains into a delicious treat, perfect for snacking or as a side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large plantains (peeled & sliced on a bias)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)
- 1/2 teaspoon Creole Cajun Seasoning (or seasoned salt, adobo, old bay)
- 1/2 teaspoon packed brown sugar
Instructions
- Slice the plantains on a bias, at an angle, about 1/2-inch thick.
- Heat the oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Once hot, add the plantain slices in batches.
- Fry the plantains for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly crisp.
- If browning too quickly, reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Set the fried plantains onto a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Season if desired.
- Serve immediately as a snack or alongside main dishes.
