Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound raw shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 4 slices turkey bacon (diced)
  • ½ cup chopped white onions
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • Lemon juice


Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of chicken broth to a boil.
  2. Stir in salt.
  3. Gradually add grits while stirring continuously.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for about 20-25 minutes until thickened.
  5. Sauté diced turkey bacon in a separate pan until crispy; remove from pan.
  6. Cook onions in the same pan until translucent, then add garlic.
  7. Add shrimp to the pan, season with Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper; cook until pink.
  8. Pour in chicken broth and sprinkle Cajun seasoning; simmer briefly before adding lemon juice.
  9. Serve creamy grits topped with shrimp mixture.
