Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup sourdough starter
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup diced strawberries
Instructions
- Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- Combine the milk, butter, egg, and sourdough starter in another bowl.
- Mix wet ingredients into dry and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise for 120-240 minutes until doubled.
- Divide dough into balls and form flat disks.
- Prepare the topping by mixing cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and butter to form a paste; shape into seashells.
- Place topping on each disk and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 15-20 minutes.
- Allow to cool and serve topped with strawberries.
Notes
Store shells in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
