Description

A delicious vegetarian twist on the classic New Orleans po’ boy, featuring crispy oyster mushrooms and fresh toppings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • Oyster mushrooms
  • Soft French bread
  • Lettuce
  • Pickles
  • Remoulade sauce
  • Flour
  • Cornmeal
  • 1 Egg
  • Seasonings (salt, pepper, paprika)
  • Oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Clean the oyster mushrooms and let them dry.
  2. Mix flour, cornmeal, and seasonings in a bowl.
  3. Dip each mushroom in egg, then coat with the flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the mushrooms until golden brown.
  5. Slice the French bread and spread the remoulade sauce on each side.
  6. Add the crispy fried mushrooms, lettuce, and pickles to the sandwich.
  7. Serve immediately.

Select fresh mushrooms and don’t overcrowd the pan for the best results. Serve immediately for the best crunch.
