A fun and colorful twist on the classic Rice Krispie treat, perfect for Independence Day and other patriotic celebrations.

- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- Red food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Grease a large baking pan (9×13 inches) with cooking spray.
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the marshmallows to the pot and stir until completely melted.
- Remove from heat and cool for a minute.
- Fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, combining until evenly coated.
- Divide the mixture in half. Put one half in a separate bowl.
- Add red food coloring to one bowl and mix well.
- Add blue food coloring to the other bowl and mix well.
- Press the red mixture evenly into the bottom of the greased baking pan.
- Layer the white mixture (original Rice Krispie mixture) on top of the red.
- Finish by pressing the blue mixture on top of the white layer.
- Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Cut into squares and enjoy!
Notes
Make sure not to pack the mixture too tightly, as this will keep them soft and chewy.
