Description

A fun and colorful twist on the classic Rice Krispie treat, perfect for Independence Day and other patriotic celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Grease a large baking pan (9×13 inches) with cooking spray.
  2. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  3. Add the marshmallows to the pot and stir until completely melted.
  4. Remove from heat and cool for a minute.
  5. Fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, combining until evenly coated.
  6. Divide the mixture in half. Put one half in a separate bowl.
  7. Add red food coloring to one bowl and mix well.
  8. Add blue food coloring to the other bowl and mix well.
  9. Press the red mixture evenly into the bottom of the greased baking pan.
  10. Layer the white mixture (original Rice Krispie mixture) on top of the red.
  11. Finish by pressing the blue mixture on top of the white layer.
  12. Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  13. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure not to pack the mixture too tightly, as this will keep them soft and chewy.
