Description

A classic Irish dish featuring a rich and cheesy sauce served over toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 cups of grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the broiler in your oven.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the milk, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard, stirring until combined.
  4. Gradually add the grated cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Toast the bread slices until golden brown.
  7. Spread the cheese mixture over the toasted bread.
  8. Place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cheese sauce.
  • Serve with a side of pickles or a salad for a complete meal.
