Description

Delightful bars combining buttery crust, rich caramel, crunchy pecans, and smooth chocolate.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • Extra chopped pecans
  • Sea salt flakes
  • Drizzled caramel sauce


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Create the crust by combining flour and brown sugar in a mixing bowl.
  4. Use a pastry blender to cut in the cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  6. Sprinkle the pecan halves over the crust.
  7. Combine butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
  8. Cook and stir until the mixture bubbles, then cook for one minute.
  9. Pour the caramel evenly over the pecans and crust.
  10. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot bars.
  12. Spread the melted chocolate into an even layer after a few minutes.

Notes

Keep butter cold to achieve the best crust texture. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
