Description
Delicious and crispy zucchini fritters enhanced with the flavor of toasted sesame seeds, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups grated zucchini (excess moisture squeezed out)
- 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds (coarsely chopped)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Grate the zucchini using a box grater, then transfer it to a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture—this helps the fritters stay crisp. Set aside.
- Combine the grated zucchini, toasted sesame seeds, flour, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl. Stir everything together until a thick batter forms; it should hold together when pressed.
- Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat until shimmering and bubbling gently—ready for frying.
- Scoop about 2-3 tablespoons of batter, then gently form into a round patty.
- Place the patty in the hot oil, pressing down slightly for even cooking.
- Fry each fritter for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy. Use a spatula to flip and ensure even browning.
- Transfer the cooked fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil and maintain crispness.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter, adding more oil to the pan as needed. Cook in batches if necessary to prevent overcrowding.
- Serve the zucchini fritters warm, garnished with additional toasted sesame seeds or your favorite dipping sauce for extra flavor and crunch.
Notes
For extra flavor, feel free to add herbs or spices to the batter. These fritters can be enjoyed warm or cold and pair well with salads or soups.
