Ingredients

- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg (or 1 tbsp flaxseed meal + 3 tbsp water for vegan option)
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Mash the black beans with a fork in a large bowl until mostly smooth.
- Stir in breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the egg (or flaxseed meal mixed with water) and mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Serve on a bun with your favorite toppings.

Customize the spices to your liking and consider letting the patties chill before cooking for better texture.
